Pickering Town Ladies vs Sherburn White Rose
Pickering ladies played their first friendly yesterday as they took on Sherburn White Rose.
Pickering started the match brightly with a few shots in the opening minutes, Sherburn then started to grow into the game. Sherburn seized the opportunity from a throw in and smashed the ball home to make it 1-0 to Sherburn. This only encouraged a fight back from Pickering with Jodie Lea going on a mazy run and beating the keeper to score Pickering Ladies first ever goal and make it 1-1.
Pickering did not let up the pressure with Jodie’s deflected shot making it 2-1 to the Pikes.
Sherburn piled on the pressure and forced some great saves but the pikes held firm.
Lily Ashworth making a guest appearance soon added a third from range. Half time score 3-1. 💙
Second half started with both teams having chances and some great goalkeeping from both ends.
The pikes worked a corner and a great ball in fell to Leila Daffern to head in and open her Pickering account. 4-1 Pikes.
A great run by Millie Porter led to a free kick in the right channel. Jodie stepped and scored again. 5-1 Pikes.
Tiring legs from Pickering allowed Sherburn some chances and they tested the keeper numerous times before finally getting a goal back with a great finish.
Full time score: Sherburn White Rose 2-5 Pickering ladies. 💙
